Rural Residential Drainage Issues

RURAL RESIDENTIAL DRAINAGE ISSUES

Burleigh County has received above-average snowfall this winter season. As rural residents cleared their driveways, some of the snow was pushed on top of the culverts at the end of their driveways. Local officials are asking that residents remove the snow on top of the culverts and spread it out into their yards so the culverts are not blocked when the water needs to flow.

"Help us help you", states Rodney Ness, Burleigh County Road Superintendent. As our spring thaw continues, the water needs to flow properly or rural residents may start seeing some issues on their property and/or cause drainage issues for their neighbors.

Rural residents are highly encouraged to monitor the water runoff and pooling in and around their property.
