Kniefel Boat Ramp to be closed Aug. 22-25

Kniefel Boat Ramp to be closed Aug. 22-25 because of electric transmission line work.
Montana-Dakota Utilities has started a high-voltage transmission line replacement project that entails replacing four large steel structures and the associated conductor cables that span the Missouri River, starting near the Heskett power plant site on the west site of the river and extending east into the Misty Waters Marina parking lot and ending on the east side of Burnt Creek Loop.
The company will be removing the conductor cables over a four-day period - Aug. 22-25 - which requires closing the marina, river access from the marina and Kniefel Boat Ramp. The closure is for public safety because the transmission lines run over the top of the river entrance and the boat ramp.
The work on Aug. 22-25 also will impact boat traffic on the Missouri River for boaters who access the river elsewhere. There will be periods where boats will be stopped while work occurs overhead. Boats will be allowed to pass underneath the power lines when deemed safe.
The replacement project is necessary to replace aging structures and upgrade the high-voltage transmission lines. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
