Fireworks Safety and Awareness Posted on 6/28/2018
The sale of fireworks has begun in Burleigh County. ND Century Code allows the sale of fireworks from June 27th thru July 5th.
Burleigh County remains in a burn ban tied to the fire danger rating. Our area has received precipitation; however, some dry conditions exist throughout Burleigh County. Fireworks can be discharged when the ND Rangeland Fire Danger Rating is "Low", "Moderate", or "High" and a Red Flag Warning is not in effect. The ND Rangeland Fire Danger Rating and Guide can be found at www.ndresponse.gov.
Local officials want you to have a safe and happy Independence Day Holiday and offer the following safety tips:
• Discharge fireworks outdoors and in a cleared area. • A responsible adult should supervise all fireworks activities. • Always have water and/or a fire extinguisher nearby. • Read the label before igniting. • Douse or soak used fireworks with water before disposal. • Be mindful of the time of day. • Consider bringing your pets indoors.
The sale, possession or discharge of fireworks within the City of Bismarck is prohibited, and violators could be charged with a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and/or fined up to $1,000.
