Children and Family Services

Child Protection Services (CPS): A program to protect the health and welfare of children by encouraging the reporting of known or suspected child abuse or neglect. Social workers conduct assessments of allegations of child abuse or neglect. Services may be recommended or required depending on the family situations. To make a report of suspected child abuse or neglect, please complete the SFN 960 Report of Suspected Child Abuse or Neglect and mail, fax, or drop off the form at our office. An intake worker also is available to take reports by phone or walk in (face to face) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. cst. Wrap Around Case Management: A family-centered strength-based philosophy of case management designed to help families develop individualized care plans. Services and supports are tailored to the unique values and cultural need of the child and family. Wraparound is provided to families with children in out-of-home placement and children at risk of out-of-home placement.

Foster Care: 24-Hour substitute care for children placed away from their parents care and responsibility. County foster homes provide for the physical, emotional, and social need of a youth in a family setting until the family can be reunited or a permanent plan can be made. Family Foster Care Licensing: A service that recruits trains and recommends licensing for the care of children in need of out-of-home placement. This process includes a home study, background check, and a determination whether a family/individual would be a match as a foster parent. Parent Aide Services: A service where pare-professionals work with families, providing education, hands-on tasks, and support, to assist families to prevent out-of-home placement and for reunification.

Safety And Permanency Funds: A service that may provide financial assistance for families to help prevent the placement of children in out-of-home care. Other avenues of payment for these services must not be available to the family.

Children's Special Health Services: A program for children and youth under 21 who has or may have a disability or chronic health condition. The Specialty Care Diagnostic and Treatment Program helps families pay for medical services for eligible children. Crossroads Day Care Program: Provides payment for day care for infants of minors who are unwed and wish to finish high school. Payments will cover the time while they are attending classes.

ND Health Tracks (formerly EPSDT): A program of preventive health care directed to children who are eligible for medical assistance. Emphasis is on early diagnosis and treatment. Prime Time Day Care Services: A project to provide financial payment to licensed day care providers for the care of children who are victims of neglect of abuse and/or are at risk out-of-home placement.
