Why do we need a new Detention Center?
Community growth and change
Jail over-crowding
Safety and security (community, staff, and inmates)

How much is it going to cost?
$69.9 million; includes all the costs for the new jail along with renovation of the existing buildings.
This is a complete project.

How are we paying for it?
cent sale tax
Pay-off using 2013 collections is approximately 8 years
Pay-off using property tax is over 20 years

How long is it going to take?
2 1/2 years to complete from the date of the Vote (June 10, 2014)

What about alternative sentencing programs?
Yes, Burleigh and Morton Counties use alternative methods to incarceration

Burleigh County 24/7 Program:
206 total participants:
105 on ankle bracelets
55 on drug patches
46 on twice-a-day breath tests

Morton County 24/7 Program:
103 total participants:
31 on ankle bracelets
35 on drug patches
37 on twice-a-day breath tests
