Visitation - Visitation is held every Tuesday and Thursday (except holidays) starting at 1:00 pm for inmates who have served a minimum of four days in jail. Each eligible inmate is allowed one 20 minute visit per visitation day. All visitors must have photo identification, be on the inmate's visitation list, be dressed appropriately (to include a shirt with sleeves), and must sign in between the hours of 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm the day of visitation. If you wish to check if you are on an inmate's visitation list you must do so in person at the Sheriff's Department.

Messages for inmates - To leave a message for an inmate, please call the inmate voice mail line at (701) 354-3292. To contact Reliance Telephone call 1-800-896-3201.

Phone Cards - Only Reliance phone cards can be used in the Detention Center. If you wish to purchase a phone card for an inmate you may do so by either calling Reliance Telephone at 1-800-896-3201, going to www.reliancetelephone.com, or by putting cash into an inmate account and the inmate can purchase a phone card. There is a kiosk by the Sheriff's Department in which to put money into an inmate's account.

** Clothing left for inmates must be approved by Detention Staff. **

** No items may be left for inmates who are transported in from DOCR for court or if they have been ordered to serve their sentence at DOCR. **

** US Marshall Inmates are not allowed to take any personal items with them when they are transported; therefore, only medically necessary items will be accepted. **


Razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, comb, and feminine products are provided to the inmate.

Bible Must be soft cover.
Dentures Denture cream to be purchased through Inmate Canteen.
Photographs MUST be appropriate and can only leave up to 10.
NO Cell Phones  
NO Pencils or Pens Pencils are provided.
NO hats. NO excess luggage.  
NO Packages of ANY type  
Prescription medication may be brought in 24-hours a day. If it is after hours, please use the West Doors, press the intercom button.
