Burleigh County Paved Road
Maximum gross vehicle weight allowed on all Burleigh County roads is 80,000 lbs. For heavier loads, click here to download an Oversize/Overweight Permit or contact the Engineer's office for further instruction or special routing. Seasonal load restrictions are placed on all paved roads during the spring in Burleigh County. Typically load restrictions are in place from mid February through May, but vary each year depending on actual moisture and weather conditions. The County uses the same guidelines, time frame and recommendations as the North Dakota Department of Transportation. Watch for official notices in the Bismarck Tribune each spring.

During seasonal load restrictions, County Hwy 10, Centennial Road, and a small number of feeder roads around the county are signed with a 10 ton/axle (80,000 lbs max) load restriction. All other roads are restricted with a 6 ton/axle (65,000 lbs max) load restriction. Contact the County Engineer's office to determine the restrictions on a given roadway.

There are some roads that remain restricted all year with a 6 ton/axle (65,000 lbs max) load restriction and they are:
  • All of River Road from Ward Road, north to State Hwy 1804.
  • 26th ST, from 71st Ave, north to 123 Ave.
  • All of Apple Creek Road, from Yegan Road, east to 158th ST.
